Tiers 1 through 4 are single-block printers — your bread-and-butter machines for turning a written disc into a real build. They run on Redstone Flux pulled from any side.
What each tier can do
- Tier 1–2 print items only.
- Tier 3 unlocks structure printing with a 3×3 footprint.
- Tier 4 grows that to 5×5.
Those footprints are the defaults: every tier has a maxFootprint entry in mc3dprint-common.toml, so pack makers (or anyone who just wants a ludicrously large print area) can raise any tier’s cap — up to 1000×1000, if your server can take it. Bear in mind a print keeps its whole build area chunk-loaded until it finishes.
Higher tiers also print faster, cost less FU per block, and accept more upgrade modules — one slot per tier, so a Tier 4 has four. They unlock higher material tiers too: a Tier 3 machine can’t print a Tier 6 (netherite) block, so match your printer to what you’re building.
Losing power only pauses a job — progress is never lost, and the print resumes the moment power returns.
Crafting your first printer
The Tier 1 printer comes together from a piston, a little redstone, and an iron shell. It’s your first machine and your gateway into the whole loop — scan, save, print.
Remote Terminal
Sneak-click a printer with the Remote Terminal to pair the two, then place the terminal anywhere in your base. Right-click it to open that printer’s GUI from across the room — no walking back to the machine.
Going bigger
When a 5×5 footprint stops cutting it, Tiers 5 through 8 are multiblock fabricators built from an N×N frame. They print the largest structures and burn through the most FU — see the FU economy for how cost scales.
